The Peking Acrobats

Enoch took me to see the Peking Acrobats for our date Saturday night, and it was breathtakingly amazing! We were in awe the whole time, and the stunts just kept getting more and more incredible throughout the show. There was no photography or media allowed, but I found some pictures of them online...

Plate Spinning

Balancing on a chair atop 4 vases

It was amazing to watch them climb and balance like it was no big deal

Yes, she is uni-cycling on top of an umbrella
(and right afterward, was turned into a human jump rope)

15 people on one bike- they just kept hopping on
(Actually, it kinda reminded us of the Chinese buses- lol)

Balancing on top of his head with one foot- crazy!

And this stunt nearly gave me a heart attack. He just kept stacking the chairs until he reached the ceiling and couldn't go any higher. Then, he tilted the chair and did a headstand, and then balanced sideways with one hand. I couldn't look. I had my head buried in Enoch's arm- I was sure we were going to witness a death.

It was a fun night (and certainly got my heart pounding.) They were even accompanied by live musicians with traditional Chinese instruments. It really made me miss China and the days we spent just exploring the pagodas and checking out the Chinese opera. It really is a fascinating culture.

Anyway, check out these incredible acrobats for yourself...

P.S. Chloe and I had our 6-week check-up last week and everything's great. Chloe has already gained 3 pounds and grown 2 inches! (And has all of the nurses and receptionists wrapped around her little finger. I was pretty sure they weren't ever going to give her back to me. One nurse even gave me her number in case I ever needed a babysitter, and another one offered for me to "stop by the office" any time I had to get out to run errands, and they'd watch her for me. lol. It was pretty funny!)

And as for me- my incision looks great and the doctor says I won't even have a scar. Apparently, I've been blessed with amazing healing genes. I'm still stoked about weighing in 10 lbs under my pre-preggo weight. (At least there's one pro of having a rough pregnancy). Plus, I FINALLY have permission to exercise again. Woo hoo! With all of my health complications and then being put on bed rest, it's been almost a year. Wish me luck...

Snow Fest!

We bundled up and got out of the house for a little bit today to enjoy Snow Fest at the park. So much fun!

There was sledding and downhill races, a snowball target competition, a snowbank treasure hunt, snow graffiti, snowman dress-up...

and yes- even snowman bowling, with a custom made snow lane.

Emma was in awe of everything, but her favorite parts were definitely the hot chocolate hut and the horse drawn wagon rides.

She was much more interested in making friends with the horses than playing in the snow.

But the craziest part of the whole event, was the polar bear swim! 75 brave souls (or rather, seriously insane souls) were hoisted up by a back hoe in true small town fashion, and willingly jumped into a pool of ice cold water.

Brrrrr!! Just watching it made me shiver like crazy. We actually watched them break the ice from the top of the pool before the event started- madness! Afterward, they'd run from the 27 degree pool water into a 105 degree hot tub. (And all for a free polar bear beanie and bragging rights. Insanity!)

And for the final event- the Christmas tree bonfire. They made a giant pile of all the old, dumped Christmas trees, and set it ablaze. A pretty cool way to say goodbye to
O' Tannenbaum, eh?

When we got back, Enoch had plans to go see Avatar with one of his good friends, so us girls decided we'd have a party too. Emma dubbed it the "Princess Pajama Party"- lol. We blew up the air mattress in the living room so we could enjoy the princess movie in true princess comfort. :) And Enoch even picked us up a pizza before he headed out- he loves us.

Chloe slept in her swing the whole time, but Emma and I sure had fun being princesses. And it was pretty cute- when I asked Emma if Chloe could be a princess too, she said- "Ummm- Yea! She's Sleeping Beauty." ha ha.

She really is a sleeping beauty, I just wish she'd sleep more at night. Apparently, she still has celestial jet lag.

Little Princess

Emma is always trying to dress-up Chloe with her hats, bows, and purses. She likes to try and play with her like she does her dolls. (I really have to keep an eye on her.) But today, when she gave Chloe this purse- I had to laugh and take a picture. It just went too well with her "I love to shop" onesie. ;) If this is any indication of the future- Enoch's in trouble. He's seriously out-numbered.

Chloe really is a little princess already. She's only a month old and I am pretty sure that she has more clothes and accessories than I do. She's one loved little baby, and I have some really talented friends who love to make her the most adorable things. My friend, Camille, made this darling flower beanie, and my sister-in-law crocheted this beautiful blanket. Yep, she's spoiled. But how can you resist such a bundle of cuteness?

(P.S. See below for another new post...)

Let it Snow

We're still having fun in the snow over here. Enoch took Emma out to play in it the other day, and she was finally able to make her snowman...

They even gathered up some fresh snow and brought it back to make some yummy ice cream. Emma thought it was the coolest thing ever! (After all, eating the snow is her favorite part)

Snow Ice Cream

1 gallon fresh, fluffy snow (give or take)
2 cups whole milk (or 1 cup whole milk + 1 cup eggnog)
1 tsp pure vanilla extract
1 scant cup granulated sugar
crushed OREO cookies (or other topping of choice)

In a very large bowl, combine the milk, sugar, and vanilla.
Add in handfuls of snow until the mixture comes together.
Stir in crushed OREO cookies.
Keep stirring, it takes awhile.
Enjoy!

My Little Artist

Emma is turning into quite the artist.
She spends a lot of time in her room at her easel.

Practicing her O's

Ta da!

And smiley faces

(This artist's got spunk!)

Time to clean up!

Yup, she's my little prodigy. She'll be famous one day. ;)
